What is Rotary?
Rotary is a global association of business and professional Rotarians who believe in the protection of goodwill and peace in the world and serve in this field. The goal is to promote high moral standards in all professions that serve humanity.
The aim of Rotary is to promote and develop the ideal of service which is the foundation of all dignified initiatives, as well as to:
• Develop acquaintance among members to create service opportunities,
• Recognize virtue in business and profession as a value and promote every Rotary member’s profession and job, as an opportunity to serve the community,
• Encourage Rotarians to apply the ideal of service to his or her personal business as well as to community life,
• Develop international understanding, goodwill and peace by establishing comradery amongst business people and professionals who are united around the ideal of service.
Each Rotary Club selects members from every profession to ensure the widespread representation of social life and serve Rotary’s purpose.
As a first step to lasting friendships, a minimum number of attendance at regular club meetings is required to continue membership and to improve acquaintance among members.
Rotary Clubs provide Rotarians with the opportunity to give examples of high moral standards in their private or business and professional lives. Religious and political views of each Rotarian are only his or her own concern.
Rotary consists of three main parts: Clubs are placed at the very heart of Rotary and are supported by Rotary International and the Rotary Foundation.
Rotary clubs bring together individuals dedicated to exchanging ideas, making connections and taking action.
Rotary International supports Rotary clubs by coordinating global programs, campaigns and initiatives.
The Rotary Foundation uses generous donations to fund Rotarians and our partners for their projects in communities around the world. As a non-profit organization, all funds come from the voluntary contributions of Rotarians and friends who share our vision of a better world.
Rotary clubs, Rotary International and Rotary Foundation work together to make lasting improvements in our local and global communities.
